CalRopes have become an essential component of any top notch fitness facility. While they are easy to learn, CalRopes offer an incredible challenge to even the most conditioned athletes. We are proud to work with many Division I, II, and III NCAA programs, including our hometown team, San Diego State University. Former San Diego State standout and current NFL linebacker Russell Allen of the Jacksonville Jaguars recently gave the CalRopes product line a going over!

How do you use CalRopes?
We use CalRopes as a major feature of our off season and summer workouts. We will use them as part of our "Farm Boy" workout where we will have the kids use the undulating ropes for varied amounts of time doing doubles, alternating, single hand, slams, sitting, in and outs (waves), upper cuts, jacks, etc... The kids will also be flipping tires, swinging a sledge hammer, and using our slosh pipe (10 foot long, 4 in PVC pipe with caps on both ends and filled with about a quart of water.)
Why do you like training with CalRopes?
The ropes are a great way to engage the core, get a great cardio workout, and build strength and endurance. There really isn't anything that comes close to the full body workout the ropes provide. Plus, they look cool and tough. Having used the ropes for the past 18 months, we feel like we were ahead of the curve so our kids like seeing how prevalent they have become, because they have been doing them for a good chunk, if not all of their, high school careers. Simply put, they are the best workout tool we have.
What is your favorite rope workout?
Personally, I like the sitting undulation workout. It has it all; abs, back, arms, cardio. It truly forces you to engage the core. I think our kids would not say that it is a favorite, but they do know the benefits of the workout. Also, alternating undulation for it hypnotic wave action and "in and outs" which really work the shoulders.
How have people responded to working out with CalRopes?
We have had great response to the ropes. The kids are gassed with a quick down and dirty workout in a way that the weight room can not provide. Plus, people in the school and community talk about the unique manner in which our kids workout which I think builds a sense of pride in the kids.

These guys are the real deal- the brave firefighters who drop into massive wildfires in the rugged East County of San Diego, and around the country, to save the lives, homes, and property of their fellow citizens. They already had our respect, but when we delivered their ropes to their gym- which is called 'The Hurt Locker', we knew they were our type of fire company!

CalRopes is by far one of the best, most challenging workouts I have ever done. The ropes add a new element to a muscular endurance and metabolic conditioning regimen. The ropes target so many different aspects of training: strength, power, endurance, and speed. Not to mention the areas of the body they target: shoulders, arms, back, legs, core strength, and grip strength. CalRopes truly are a total body workout. They have their place in both a stand alone workout or as a component of an interval workout.
As a firefighter, CalRopes help condition me for many of the movements performed on the fireground. Weather its swinging an axe, operating a chainsaw for extended periods, pulling hose, or carrying ladders, the rope workouts have proven to make my job easier. The rope workouts have taken my workouts to another level allowing me to be more effective and to work longer with less fatigue.

In light of the evolution of training, CalRopes have become more popular in gyms, training facilities, as well as home workouts. Whether it is your job, sport, or lifestyle specific training, these ropes play a major role in conditioning us for our line of work.
The muscles we use in wildland firefighting are a direct mimic in the way we train with ropes. Fire training, power, strength and endurance are the four key factors that firefighters stake their lives on. As a certified strength and conditioning coach, CalRopes gives me the best tool in my arsenal. It gives me the freedom to formulate many different types of workout programs for our Hotshot Crew. Keeping our firefighters strong and conditioned help's our department stay safe and healthy. It also enlightens a lot of our firefighters on how these ropes could give you a real workout.
Thank you CalRopes for outfitting our facility with an awesome tool and the best piece of equipment in our gym (The Hurt Locker)!

CalChain is an intense workout, which
challenges your muscles and stance differently than with the basic
dumbbells and barbells. I love doing the tornado swings as every
muscle in you core is engaged to the max. I used to use the Bulgarian
bag but that is way too easy now after using the CalChain. As you can
see in my picture I attached the CalRopes Single Loop Gripper and made it even
more intense. I am someone who has been training as an athlete and
martial artist for over 40 years ( I will be 62 in September) and have
tried pretty much everything out there. The CalChain has been an
excellent investment and addition to my gym.
Trainer George (age 62!) with a CalChain attached to a Single Loop Gripper. Wow- even we hadn't thought of that!
