Getting started with the CalTrainer
CalTrainer Components
Gripping Loops - Made from super strong 1.25" diameter manila rope which offers a solid grip for hands and comfortable mounting for the feet. Two 6" loops are separated by a 48" length of rope, allowing up to 6 feet of wingspan.
Mounting Lengths - Each CalTrainer comes with 2 mounting lengths (36" and 50") each made of " synthetic manila (also known as pronila) rope. These two lengths, along with the overall adjustability of the CalTrainer, allow you to anchor to any sturdy point capable of holding your body weight, high, low, or in between. Each pair of mounting lengths comes with a single metal carabiner with a working load of over 900 pounds.
CalTrainer Adjustability
The CalTrainer was designed to allow for quick and easy length adjustments, allowing you to use anchor points of varying heights and smoothly switch between exercises during your workout. The following adjustments are in order from longest (hangs closest to the ground) to shortest.
Option 1 : If you are using thin anchor point (i.e. a crossbar on a set of playground monkey bars), the carabiner may simply be attached to the crossbar.
Option 2 : The mounting length is wrapped around the anchor point (i.e. a tree branch), is hooked to a lower segment of the mounting length, and is pulled tight so that the carabiner slides upward as far as possible.
Option 3 : Mounting length is wrapped around the anchor point and is hooked into the bottom (larger) loop of the mounting length (where the Gripping Loops are hung.)
Option 4 : Mounting length is wrapped around anchor point, carabiner is passed through the bottom (larger) loop of the mounting length, and is then hooked back onto the lower portion of the mounting length.
Option 5 : You may also switch the to the additional mounting length to allow for even more variation.
Option 6 : To use a single loop, pass one end of the Gripping Loops (i.e. one handle) through the other end, and then pull down on the end that was passed through. This will cause the other end to slide upwards along the middle length of the Gripping Loops, giving you a single sturdy loop that will support your body weight.
Option 7 : To shorten (raise) a single loop, once again pass the end of the Gripping Loops that is hanging down through the bottom (larger) loop of the mounting length. Each pass of the bottom end of the Gripping Loops will raise the loop further from the ground.
